More binary fun!

Did you know that binary is not only used for numbers, but for letters as well? In fact, everything a computer can do is controlled by 0s and 1s! Binary makes the computer create letters and pictures on screen by changing the colours of pixels (the tiny dots that make up a computer screen), faster than the human eye can see! Here are some of the codes for letters:

“A” is 01000001, the code for “B” is 01000010 and “C” is 01000011.

Now here is a message from me to you!

Our class visitors!

Today we have been visited by 2 new friends – Tribots from the Open University in the North-East! We will be having a lot of fun with them over the next few weeks!

Does not compute…

Oh dear! We had an urgent message this afternoon saying that one of our class members had malfunctioned! We had to quickly issue instructions to this poor confused robot so that she could find her way back to her seat.

Over the next few weeks we will be learning lots more about robots! I would love to see any research that you can do at home, too!
